What is the Female STD Panel?
This panel tests for many of the most common STDs found in women. The same tests are requested routinely by health care providers for their sexually active patients—symptomatic or not.
Which tests are included in this panel?
Most sexually active adults will have an HPV infection at some point in their lives. There are no symptoms of an HPV infection, which is the leading cause of cervical cancer. Early detection of this virus is potentially lifesaving.
These are two of the most common STDs and often show no signs or symptoms. If left untreated, they can lead to chronic pelvic pain and infertility. Anyone who is sexually active with new or multiple partners should routinely test for chlamydia and gonorrhea.
Oral herpes (HSV-1) and genital herpes (HSV-2) are both very common. Many people don’t realize they have one or both types, transmitting the virus to their partner without realizing it.
Genital Wart Viruses (optional add-on):
Low Risk HPV does not cause cancer but does lead to genital warts. Warts are persistent and may cause pain or discomfort. However, they can be easily treated by a healthcare provider.
Why choose a full panel?
Many STDs have overlapping symptoms and risk factors, making it difficult to know which to test for. It’s also quite common for someone to have multiple STDs at the same time. If you’re unsure which infection you may have, a Female STD Panel can give you broader results more easily and cost effectively.
Obtaining the results of this full panel of tests will provide you with the peace of mind needed for your intimate health. You don’t know unless you test, and only you will know the results.
